About the Author

Jenny Tedbury is the founding director of The Lighthouse Project Spalding, a registered charity that includes Karis House.

She works with young people who are struggling in some way, helping them to deal with their past and gain confidence to cope with everyday life.

In addition to being the Executive Director of The Lighthouse Project Spalding she’s a church leader, nurse and former Assistant Director of Public Health in the NHS.

She teaches, preaches and writes whenever possible.

In these days where immediacy seems to have taken on an obsessional status, it’s remarkable to read a book that re-affirms the reality that true transformation takes time! Time to become aware of the personal need for change and restoration, before rushing in to theorise the needs of others. This book is about Godly process. It speaks of how it may be true that “hurt people hurt people”, it’s equally powerful that “healed people heal people”! I commend this story of hope over despair. I once wrote about being “A dreamer for the Kingdom… dreams that will change a world that’s lost its way” – Jenny is both a dreamer and a tireless activist.

Rev Canon Chris Bowater OSL, Pastor, worship leader, songwriter, author

I have had the privilege both of meeting Jenny and also visiting Karis House. This book is filled with practical wisdom that is bringing help and hope to a growing number of young women. It represents years of hard work and sacrifice springing from deep-rooted compassion. This unashamedly flows from a belief that the Christian good news message offers freedom and the possibility of new beginnings for all.

Stuart Bell, Senior Pastor of Alive Church, Lincoln, and the leader of The Ground Level Network

Excellent insightful book into helping people understand their struggles, well-structured and easily readable. If the reader engages with the journey and completes the steps suggested it will have a positive impact on their thinking, helping them to make sense of the “why” and give them a “how to” perspective of their future. The author clearly identifies the issues and walks with the readers throughout using examples of others who have walked the journey before. It brings hope into the hopelessness that some may feel about their situation and offers self-help suggestions which have worked for others.
